Head grower at Tomatoworld is amazed at plant alerts

Plant alerts coming directly from plants in real-time. Although Ab van Marrewijk (head grower at Tomatoworld) knows about plant signaling, he was still feeling skpetical towards Vivent's technology and the use of plant electrophysiology as a driver for greenhouse operations and management.

However, his opinion quickly changed when he forgot to close the energy screen in the greenhouse he operates.

The night was very cold, and his plants entered an extended period of stress. Through the help of Vivent's biosensors, Ab was alerted by his plants in real-time that they were not happy. Ab's plants were wasting energy reacting and adapting to their environment rather than producing.

Vivent biosensors measure plants' electrical signals through 2 electrodes inserted directly into the stem of the plants at two different heights. By placing electrodes at the base and near the top of the plants, Vivent's biosensors are able to monitor a plant's health situation and enable plants to directly communicate information to growers. Plant alerts coming directly from plants in real-time.

Vivent not only provides sms and email alerts to growers in real-time but also offers complementary analyses to optimise growing conditions. As Ab explains in the video below, growing conditions are key to a higher production. Vivent enables growers to adjust conditions in real-time to achieve optimal results.

“I did not believe it, but last week we forgot to close the energy screen, and the plants became stressed during the night, and we received signals that they were not happy. This helps us see in real-time what happens when plants are not in an optimal situation, which will help us reach our plants' full potential.”
